I studied a BA in Translation and a BFA in Fine Arts, so I really didn’t start out to be a filmmaker. But the first time I used a camera I felt it was the perfect tool to merge all my interests, assets and aspirations to reflect on reality in an engaging creative way. I've been hooked on filmmaking since then...

I have directed and produced documentaries and fiction shorts that have been shown in art institutions and festivals around the world, like the Berlinale Talent Campus, Instituto Cervantes and Caixa Forum. In 2008 I was awarded a scholarship from Fundació La Caixa, a prestigious Spanish foundation, to complete an MFA in Filmmaking at UCLA in Los Angeles. While at UCLA, I have received the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Award and the Mary Pickford Award two consecutive years. I have also become a Film Independent Project:Involve fellow and a Telluride FilmLab fellow.

I am attracted to stories that explore the tension between the self and the other, especially in the context of the dialogue between different cultural traditions. Besides working on the postproduction of TRYOUTS, I am currently developing a feature-length documentary about the effects of current violence in Mexico with my filmmaker friend Alba Mora. The project has received the support of the Tribeca Film Institute, IDFA and the Documentary Campus Masterschool.
