The Our Sudan Team

The Director: Rhea Schmitt is a Video Producer who specializes in creating videos for social change. She graduated with a Masters in Documentary Film from the University of London and has worked with UNICEF, War Child Holland, The British Council, and Angel Eye Media London. She also trains young film makers in Sudan. Currently she works in Khartoum with different organizations to create a base for young film makers with an interest in creating films for social change.

Advisor: Dimah Gasim is a Communications and Projects Officer at a development organization in Sudan. She is also a founding member of a Sudanese youth-led grassroots environment group of over one-thousand members. With a liberal arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Dimah’s diverse professional experience includes teaching and advocating for children and young adults, strategic planning, and she has a noteworthy background in the arts and design.

Advisor: Eman O.Sulieman is an HR professional, currently working in the banking industry in Sudan. A graduate of the University of Nottingham Business School, Eman has lived in many countries including Egypt, Iran, and Jordan; these experiences have profoundly shaped her character and outlook on the world.

Advisor: Tarig Hilal is a Political Scientist. A graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) he has worked for Crisis UK, the International Crisis Group, the World Bank, and the National Democratic Institute and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and North Africa. Tarig is the author of Our Sudan.

Advisor: Anwar Dafa-Alla is CS Assistant Professor and the head of the Information Technology Department at Garden City College for Science and Technology (GCCST) in Khartoum, Sudan. He has organized TEDx Khartoum and TEDx Youth@Khartoum and has translated more than 850 TED Talks into Arabic. Anwar is deeply involved in efforts to develop the Sudanese intellectual community, and he reports about the happenings in Sudan to the rest of the world. He is restless, a multi-tasker, and a huge fan of Hans Rosling.
