The genre of black metal is not an exclusive style to the European forests, but a genre that has been passed on to several countries such the United States. A black metal movement has slowly been spreading throughout the United States where some would consider the least likely location; Rural America. Between the rust colored scrapyards and snow-tipped mountains, many phenomenal bands have come forth and presented their take on the genre of black metal infused with a little bit of that American small-town vibe. True American Black Metal is a film that documents this growing movement in the U.S. and contrasts the Americanized version to the “Trve Kvlt” of the European version. The film sees many bands behind the camera giving their perspective, including Frost Like Ashes, Symphony of Heaven, Crimson Moon, Mystic Winter, Elgibbor, Vials of Wrath, Crimson Moonlight, Turris Ruina, O Majestic Winter, Pantokrator, Uzkost, Enthroned, Crest of Darkness, and a few others. The documentary speaks to how growing up in the United States changed the perspective of black metal from the European style.
