For an inhabitant of the eastern states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the struggle for a life in an Indian metropolitan city like New Delhi, starts at the railway ticket window. This struggle is for a seat inside one of the crowded passenger trains bound to the capital city. It ultimately ends at the Delhi railway station but here on, a string of struggles start to emerge simultaneously. From transportation and housing to health and education, these struggles would sphere all the elements of a city’s planning issues through the lens of a migrant.
The 5000 year old city has attracted people throughout its age from different parts of the world. With its abundance of resources, the city has gone through reigns of multiple dynasties and is slowly reaching its peak of accommodation. This film is about this ancient city which takes in 75000 migrants annually and still manages to embrace its inhabitants in today’s political scenario. It is about the character of these inhabitants and therefore of the city, which is seeking for heritage status at the dawn of smart cities in India.
