Imagine living in Syria, and one day ISIS shows up at your house and demands your teenage brothers join ISIS or everyone gets killed. Your family immediately decides to leave everything, including your childhood home, behind in Syria, and you somehow get to Europe to start a new life. Now imagine that new life involves being stuck in a transit center for refugees in Austria, and one day someone shows up who is the same age, from the same country, and with the same exact problems with ISIS. What happens next? You become BFFs, of course. This is the story of Shahad and Kawtar, two 11-year-old girls and their fateful serendipitous friendship. This film was directed by Jason Drakeford and Thomas Nybo and premiered at the Atlanta Film Festival 2016.
