A feature documentary about the English explorer Henry Hudson and his search for a route to the Indies across the poles and through the Northwest Passage. The story of Hudson and his early voyages to Spitzbergen in 1607 and the Nova Zembla Island in 1608, his voyage for the Dutch VOC in 1609 and his discovery of the Hudson River followed by his ignominious return to Dartmouth, and his disappearance in James Bay during his fourth voyage in 1610. The story of the mutiny of the English crew which resulted in Hudson and his young son John and several sick crew members set adrift in an open boat. None of them was ever seen again. Champlain’s enigmatic trip up the Ottawa river in 1613 with young Nicolas de Vigneault in search of the English boy and the Northern Sea, and the trial of the conspirators for piracy in a London courtroom in 1618.
