An upscale Albanian immigrant family from the city move to a cottage on a lake inherited from their uncle and have to adjust to life among an outrageous bunch of misfits. The father Fatos Imani is an Albanian heart surgeon, but cannot work without a medical license, so he has driven a cab in the city for five years. The mother Elira is a school teacher and without a teaching degree she works cleaning houses. There are two children, a boy Agron who is a teenage computer geek and an adolescent girl Drita who dreams of being in show business. Along for the ride is Grandpa Zamir who finds himself quite at home in the crumbling lakeside cottage.
The Imanis soon run into two local brothers Elmer and Elvis Gimp. Elmer is a part time gas station mechanic with a heart of gold while his brother - the too good-looking - Elvis is involved in get rich schemes with their dad Horatio Gimp involving cigarette and alcohol smuggling in the small town.
